I took these pictures in the front yard of my house when the sun was setting. I like the way the light passing through the trees makes a silhouette. The orange color of the sun gives these pictures a warm feeling. The focal point of the pictures is in the fore ground making the background kind of blurry. The sun going down gives the pictures a last light tranquility adding to the relaxed mood of the photos. I was trying to capture shape in the foreground and color in the background. I believe I was successful in doing so. Patrick Stokoe
The main focus of this picture is the sun peaking through the branches making light the main theme and focal point. The brightness of the sun contrasts with the darkness of the branches. This makes the light of the sun the main object of the picture. The trees frame the center of the picture making the focal point stronger. The darkness of the trees on top and on bottom creates an oreo effect. The top tree is in the foreground and the bottom tree is in the background. This shows the depth of the picture. I believe this picture is good because the contrast between light dark and gray is very strong; it’s the best of all three worlds. If I could change one thing about this picture I would have left it in color but since this is a black and white gallery that is not an option. Next time I will start taking pictures the day its assigned so that I have lots of pictures to choose from. I really like this picture but I always want to make sure the picture I use is a picture I love and not something I’m just settling for. Patrick Stokoe
I like this picture because it’s simple. The black background gives all the focus on me making the picture less distracting. I like the lighting on my face I believe It gives it a sense of depth to the picture. If don’t like how the side of my lenses is showing but the black background defuses it a little. If I could re shoot this picture I would use the same angle but I would do some back lighting to try and create a silhouette affect. I like the light reflection in my eye I think that looks cool.
