I took these pictures all on different day in different places. I edited these photos going for a dark gloomy effect. I changed the color balance on all three to make the photos dark. I wanted a kind of grainy texture to add to the dark tone and mood set by the pictures. I have been interested in gloom lately. I have found it interesting to take a bright picture that isn’t gloomy and edit it to change the entire mood. I rotated the top and middle picture so that I could see it in a different perspective.
I took this picture in Jerusalem last summer. I like the lighting on the red flower which is the focal point in this picture. I was trying to go for a bright open air nature close up. I am pleased with the way this picture after cropping and editing. The contrast between the red of the flower and the green of the leaves makes the picture more dramatic. I like the blurry background it adds to the clarity of the flowers. I like the blurry edges I like the way it contrasts with the blurry top background. I was going for an impressionistic look I believe this photo has that element. I wanted to capture a flourishing garden something that has that fresh surreal feel to it. I used a process of blurring and changed the lightness and opacity. I also changed the hue and saturation to make the photo brighter and make the red on the flower more profound. Patrick Stokoe
